Excel High School - Ms. Pred-Sosa's Picture!
My name is Lisa Pred-Sosa. I teach ESL 3.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Antioch College and a Masters degree in Bilingual Ed/ESL from Boston University.
I have been teaching ESL for 30 years, mostly at English High. This is my first year at Excel High.
My goals for the students are to love reading, become better writers and speakers of English, work hard and be successful in whatever they choose to do.
I enjoy learning about different cultures and languages. I know I will be learning a lot from the students this year.
There are many memorable moments in my teaching career but one in particular is about a student who started the year in my ESL 1 class, moved to ESL 2 the same year, then studied with me in ESL 3 the following year, went to regular ELA the next year and became the valedictorian of the school. That was the first time an ESL student started in level one and became the valedictorian of the school. Her mother didn’t want her to go away to (Smith) college but I drove the mom and the student to visit the school and the mom finally agreed to let her go. She is now in her second year at Smith on a full scholarship and doing very well.
