Welcome to Mr. Pereira's Page!

Welcome to school year 2011-2012, This is Dr. Jonathan Yip. I am teaching three sections of Chemistry 1 and one section of Biology 1 at Excel High School this year. This is my first year teaching at Excel High School. I was an IB Science Teacher at Josiah Quincy Upper School last year and an AP and Honor Chemistry teacher at Randolph High School, as a long-term substitute teacher.

I am an native of Hong Kong, a former British Colony, being grown up and educated there before I came to United States. I went to University of Chicago studying Organic Synthesis and Physical Organic Chemistry and received my Ph.D. in 1993.

My goal for my students this year is to help them become familiarized with the subject matter, apply what they learn to every day events, and develop a strong learning habit individually and cooperatively with other students. In my classroom, students are learning by actively participated in each lesson. Living by Chemistry and Biology - A Human Approach are our main curriculum source.
