Excel High School Goes to Nantucket!!

Thanks to the Grace Grossman Youth Collaborative which is funded through UMASS Boston at the request of Senator Robert Leary, twelve of Excel High Schools’ students traveled to Nantucket with Ms. Flower and Ms. Marx!! Once on the island, the students toured the UMASS Boston Grace Grossman Field Station and Whaling museum, and visited the cranberry bog, vernal pond, Squam farm, and Squam swamp. Students also learned a great deal from local Nantucket Biologists who shared their knowledge about the wildlife and ecosystems located on the Island.

A special thank you is given to Dr. Sarah Oktay and Lennie Germinara who head the UMASS Boston Field Station and work tirelessly to ensure the success of this amazing and educational program for our students.
